Demographic Changes in China
China has experienced significant demographic changes in the past 60 years. From the late 1950s in which Mao Zedong's massive failure in radical policies, such as the Great Leap Forward, led to the deaths of thousands and destruction of the land, to 2016 in which China is one of the greatest world powers with a booming economy; this country has experienced very dramatic political, social, and economic changes. The three sections below showcase the demographic results of some of these changes and the dynamic political, social, and economic culture which caused them. While demographic changes are undoubtedly always occurring in every country, it is important to consider the speed at which changes have occurred in China over the past 60 years.
